Water Treatment
One of the biggest challenges across the globe, Africa included, is access to clean and safe water. Water is an essential basic need that must be available in order for human beings to survive the next day. Africa has a serious water crisis, despite the continent boasting of having numerous natural water sources such as lakes, rivers, streams, ponds, springs, rainwater, aquifers, and ocean waters.
Water
Over 300 million Africans lack access to clean and safe water for drinking and 700 million are living in poor conditions without adequate sanitation. Lack of access to clean and safe water has frustrated poverty reduction efforts and hindered economic prosperity.
Since water in Africa is a core ingredient for sustainable development, its availability is key to facilitate human survival, socioeconomic development, and healthy ecosystems.

If there is sufficient water for communities, diseases shall be contained and populations will become more productive.
Most of the suffering witnessed by African populations is mainly associated with water scarcity which directly affects human health, causes hunger and starvation, as well as influences security because of water-related conflicts.

In addition, sanitation is a serious challenge that faces the continent because many people, especially those living in disadvantaged urban neighborhoods, lack dedicated sewage systems, which causes them to live in unsanitary conditions threatening the spread of diseases.
Industry leader in ro expertise and membrane applications since 1983™
Our strategic partner, Applied Membranes, Inc. is a manufacturer and distributor of Reverse Osmosis Membranes, Systems and Components, both commercial and residential. Examples of these applications are ultrapure water for semiconductor and pharmaceutical industry; potable water from well, river or sea water; rinse water for manufacturing, car wash, or electroplating industry; central water supply for hemodialysis; water recycle for municipal of industrial water.
Solar powered uf and ro water treatment systems
SOLAR DESALINATION PLANTS UP TO 50GPM
Powered only by Solar Energy, Applied Membranes’ Solar Ultrafiltration and Reverse Osmosis systems treat river and well water to produce water for drinking, irrigation, agriculture and other uses.
Hundreds of these systems are currently in operation treating water with TDS of up to 10,000 PPM and product flow of up to 50 gallons/minute. Designed to produce the maximum of treated water with the lowest possible energy these systems are compact and made for outdoor use.
Applied Membranes specializes in manufacturing reliable plug & play ISO containerized systems for virtually any mobile water treatment solution. Our 20 & 40 foot, high-cube containers include insulation and fine internal and external finishing.
AMI offers a variety of mobile water purification systems and units for fast response for emergency situations, supplemental or temporary requirements. Our mobile system solutions are available in a full range of applications such as Reverse Osmosis, Ultrafiltration, Nanofiltration, Seawater Desalination, Softening & Filtration and more. Mobile water treatment systems are available for purchase or for leasing.
Benefits of solar powered desalination systems
- Self-Contained Operation; Containerized and Portable for Water Treatment in Remote Locations
- Highly Efficient, Customizable and Economical
- Conservatively Engineered for Reliable, Long Term Performance
- Factory Tested to Ensure Trouble-Free Operation
- Microprocessor or PLC Controlled with Built-In GPRS for Remote data & Control Communication
- Solar Power up To 60 KW to Operate RO Plants up to 150,000 GPD (500 m3/day)
Solar handles 100% of daily plant production
S-ROC plants have a great economic advantage – they reduce RO operating cost by 50% compared to grid or diesel generators. Solar can operate RO plants at 100% daily design capacity during 6-8 hours, and if required uses AC power (if it is available) as back up at night time in hybrid mode (solar and AC) to operate 24 hours.
